October 9, 2011 By DAVE HAWKINS Independent Staff Writer Ground’s been broken in Valle Vista for a unique business venture that intends to blend a vineyard with winemaking as the feature flavor of a social center for weddings, parties and other occasions. Construction of the 6,500 sq. ft. Stetson Winery and Event Center is underway in the Historic Route 66 community about 15 miles north of Kingman. The town that vehemently rejected a proposed biodiesel facility has embraced the winery and event center project. “The community has been really, really receptive to it,” said Don Stetson, a partner in the commercial endeavor. “It’s just been phenomenal and we’d heard nothing but good stuff out of it.” The multi purpose event and reception center will feature a gazebo area and an ability to accommodate visitors both indoors and outdoors. Stetson said a 400 person capacity is envisioned. Stetson said the new business should open next April.
